It’s often said that not all heroes wear capes, and sometimes, all it takes  to profoundly touch someone’s life. Recently, a New Zealand doctor demonstrated this point, when a photo of him running an emergency room while snuggling a snoozing baby went viral.

A clinical nurse specialist at Waikato Hospital in New Zealand, named Mike Haden-Jones,  on April 25th (with the permission of the baby’s mother). In his post, Mike wrote that a fussy baby who came into the hospital with his mother had been in need of a nap, but because his mom was undergoing medical tests, she couldn’t put him to sleep. Doctors throughout the emergency room tried to soothe the infant, but only the emergency department consultant, Dr. Muir Wallace, was successful. Even though Muir was tasked with running the entire ER that night, he stepped up .

“So for about an hour the other day our consultant in charge (of the entire ED) was most definitely multi-tasking,” . “Just an example of the small kindnesses that happen everyday that often go unnoticed.”

The photo showed the baby boy dozing contentedly on Wallace’s shoulder. And if that weren’t cute enough, the post was captioned, “Sometimes all you need is a hug.”

So far, the Facebook post has been and shared nearly 350 times, so this New Zealand doctor’s small act of kindness is clearing striking a chord with people all over the world.

We love how peaceful Wallace looks while holding that sleeping baby. The world needs  like this one, and it warms our hearts to see this doctor making sure even his youngest patient is taken care of.
